The Alpha Systems site, wc3.co.uk is hosted with A4 Internet who have dedicated servers in a Hosteurope datacenter.

Hosteurope are one of the largest providers of secure datacenter hosting in Europe, and their reliability and service quality are ever improving. A4 Internet are able to pass these benefits on to the end users and small businesses, such as Alpha Systems.

This site and the Alpha Systems Internet presence is hosted on powerful Cobalt RaQ Servers running Sun's custom build of Linux. The server integrates the most popular technologies such as Apache web server, MySQL bringing SQL, PHP, Perl and TCL development to Alpha Systems to enable us to create a dynamic and special web site.

Hosteurope uplink to the rest of the Internet through GX Networks Plc UK, one of the larger telecoms companies in the UK who offer low latency and maximum uptime. GX Networks are a Tier 1 ISP with around 80 PoP's (Points Of Presence) in the UK.

Design & Creation

The wc3.co.uk web site was created using Microsoft FrontPage 2000, a highly under-estimated tool. Many people believe that FrontPage lacks the power necessary to design high quality web sites. wc3.co.uk and helpforce.com stand as proof that good design is possible using FrontPage.

The graphics were created and edited using JASC Paint Shop Pro 7.

Technologies

The SSI (Server Side Includes) feature of Apache web server was used in this site to make updating easier, however PHPNuke and other Wizard/template type design tools were NOT used in the creation of this site. I am firmly against such tools, I believe they take the creativity out of the Internet and turn an art form into a "five minute noddy-tool job."

wc3.co.uk also uses DHTML for advanced positioning, CGI Perl for search scripts and alike and JavaScript for roll-over buttons.

This web site is loosely based on W3C's HTML 4.01 standards, but does not follow the standards in some places where the standard inhibited the design. This site is tested and compatible with all common browsers, Internet Explorer 4+, Netscape Navigator 6+ and all Mozilla-compliant browsers.

The wc3.co.uk web site is rated by ICRA which insures that all web sites have a rating to say if they contain any material inappropriate to children.

If you have activated your content advisor feature in Microsoft Internet Explorer and other browsers, you will be aloud to visit this site as it contains no bad Language, no Nudity, no Sex and no Violence. This web site is safe for children to use.
