Specifications for Omega3 vary from one network to another. This page has a set of minimum and recommended specifications for Omega3.
Minimum specs: The Network:
The Omega3 Server: A dedicated server is recommended, however Omega3 can be run on servers with other applications. Alpha Systems can not be held responsible for any conflicts between Omega3 and other applications on the same server.
Recommended specs: The Network:
The Omega3 Server:
Notes: Omega3 will open up port TCP/80 on the server to serve the web-based component of the application to the rest of the network. The only other data Omega3 will send and receive will be SNMP and Pings. Administration can be done from the web based area, with some administration needed from the server console. PC Anywhere / Terminal Services or a similar application is recommended for complete 'Lights Out' operation of Omega3. The application is installed as a Windows service, so the server can be completely self-recovering and can run for extended periods of time without user intervention. Backups may be required of the data folder where Omega graphs are stored and updated to avoid loosing historical information.
